The why is quite simple: I am passionate about (and tortured by) environmental and social topics, and I love writing.
The how has more to say:
The environmental Notes will be textual
Well, internet is providing numerous amount of video, GIF, tweets and Instagram posts in order to popularize the complexity of the environmental and social crises of which we are at the same time witnesses, victims, and responsible for. To play my part, I would like to analyse complex and/or long articles (scientific or not), and try to make them accessible to those who can’t be satisfied with 140 characters, nor with pages of complex reports. I also would like to share my thinking, opinion, impressions and feelings about these frightening topics, which are yet part of an exciting world.
And you will have to read because I cannot draw except potatoes, and I cannot make video without being terrified by my voice and image. My impossible goal: share environmental topics without being alarming, while I personally still don’t understand why the world does not freak out.
Language issue
My mother tongue is French yet I gained my environmental knowledge in English. Therefore, most of the environmental Notes will be in English. Also, using a foreign language to talk about articles and reports which are very often end-of-the-world forecasts is a way to take my emotional distances with these depressing, yet necessary and super interesting topics. To natives English speakers: should I be the cause of grammatical heart attacks, my sincere apologies. And should you have eco-anxiety, you might consider learning another language?
